Throughout human history, people have proved to be unreliable, irrational, and egocentric [through evolution by natural selection]. One only needs to look inside themselves to find these human faults. We all generally want to help others; however, in needing to fend for our own survival, we consequently have to prioritize ourselves before others.
Now, as the global population rises, so do the number of solitary people, elderly people, and others who are in desperate need of assistance and companionship. With this enormous demographic growing rapidly in number, it's irresponsible to ignore, and dangerous to assume that the number of people who can provide, will ever meet the requirements of all of those in need; only a privileged few would be so fortunate.
And so, with this undue disparity, the opportune time is here for the mass adoption of service robots to play it's role in society, to disperse equality, to end suffering, and to help humankind push forward.
